PLANE HEADED FOR PHILLY HITS BIRD, LOSES ENGINE
PHILADELPHIA - December 6, 2009 (WPVI) -- At around 8:00 p.m. Sunday night, an alert occurred at the Philadelphia International Airport concerning an inbound flight.
Airport officials say Continental Airlines flight 3046 from Cleveland was on final approach to Philadelphia when it was hit by a bird.
One of the two engines ingested the bird and the engine shut down leaving only one engine operational.
The plane, however, was able to make a safe landing and all 53 people onboard were uninjured.
