NTSB PLANS DEC. 4 MEETING REGARDING UPS FIRE
The National Transportation Safety Board plans a public board meeting Dec. 4 regarding a 2006 fire aboard a UPS flight in Philadelphia.
A July 2006 hearing focused on whether lithium batteries being carried by the cargo plane played a role.
The DC-8 made an emergency landing at Philadelphia International Airport after the three-member crew detected smoke, which intensified as the plane descended.
The plane landed safely and the crew escaped with minor injuries, but the aircraft became engulfed in flames and was seriously damaged.
The board meeting is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Dec. 4 in Washington
