PHL is 26th out of 32 airports in on-time flights
Philadelphia International Airport's ranking for flight delays improved marginally in July compared with a year ago, but it still finished near the bottom of the list of the nation's 32 largest airports, the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics said today.
Across the country, July flights arrived on time - measured as no more than 15 minutes late - 69.8 percent of the time, contributing to what is expected to be one of the worst years on record for delays, the Department of Transportation's statistics bureau said.
Among the major carriers, US Airways flights arrived on time 66.3 percent of the time, ahead of Delta Air Lines at 65.3 percent, American at 63.4 and three commuter systems, American Eagle, Comair and Atlantic Southeast.
Philadelphia International finished July with 63.4 percent on-time arrivals, placing it in the No. 26 spot out of 32 airports. It was in 27th place, with a record of 65.3 percent of departures on time. A year ago, Philadelphia was in 29th place for both arrivals and departures.
