PHL Airport Ranked 2nd Worst For Delays
(CBS 3) PHILADELPHIA One out of every four flights nationwide is delayed according to an air traffic controllers website. Philadelphia International Airport ranks second worst with approximately 36 percent of all flights delayed. At the bottom of the list was New Jersey’s Newark International Airport.

Government officials have predicted the summer of 2007 to be the worst for flight delays and so far they have been correct. Weather has played a role in the problems, but the airline industry blames an outdated air traffic control system, mechanical problems, backed up runways and crew changes. Travel experts suggest flying direct when possible to avoid missing connecting flights, getting an early morning flight and trying to avoid bad weather.
