US Airways, TAP in code-share pact|
US Airways Group Inc. has signed a code-sharing agreement with TAP Portugal that involves some Philadelphia flights. Code-sharing allows use of a single ticket, one-stop check-in and coordinated baggage handling between two airlines. Code-sharing between the airlines will occur on flights between the United States and Portugal and other European locations. The service begins Wednesday. US Airways' code will be added on TAP flights departing Lisbon for Faro, Funchal and Oporto, Portugal, as well on TAP's Lisbon and Oporto flights to Newark, N.J. From Newark, TAP will share code on US Airways flights to Charlotte, N.C., and Pittsburgh. Flight connections are also available beyond Lisbon to Brussels, Belgium, and Prague, Czech Republic. TAP customers will have access to 11 destinations in the United States via US Airways transatlantic code-share flights between Lisbon and Philadelphia. US Airways (NYSE:LCC), which is the dominant carrier at Philadelphia International Airport, is the fifth-largest domestic airline. The Arizona-based carrier operates 3,800 flights per day to more than 230 destinations in the United States, Canada, Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America. TAP flies to 46 destinations in 27 countries.
