THREE FLIGHTS FROM FLORIDA DIVERTED TO PHILA. BY FOG
Several hundred passengers were delayed for hours late Friday into yesterday morning after three Spirit Airlines flights from Florida to Atlantic City were diverted to Philadelphia because of heavy fog. Flight 304 from Orlando, Flight 936 from Fort Myers, and Flight 268 from Fort Lauderdale - each carrying 145 passengers - were scheduled to land Friday night in Atlantic City, which was fogged in, airline spokeswoman Misty Pinson said.

The flight crews had hoped to refuel at Philadelphia International Airport and go on to Atlantic City, she said, but the fog did not lift until yesterday morning. Because Spirit does not have landing rights in Philadelphia, ground crews and equipment had to be assembled to service the three planes. Buses were rounded up to take the passengers to Atlantic City. "The fog outlasted us, but the safety of our passengers is more important," Pinson said. - Joseph A. Slobodzian
