Father killed, son injured in small plane crash in Chester County
AVONDALE, Pa. - A small plane crashed in southern Chester County on Sunday afternoon, killing the pilot and injuring his son, police said. State police said the two-passenger, single-engine Cherokee plane apparently had mechanical trouble shortly after taking off from New Garden Airport. Witnesses reported that the plane's engine was on fire.

The plane crashed in London Grove Township, near the Maryland state line, and the body of Gregory Eames, 48, was found in the wreckage, police said. His son, Jason Eames, 22, was flown to Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, where he was listed in fair condition Sunday evening. Both men lived in southern Chester County, authorities said.
