ATLANTIC CITY GETTING A NEW AIRLINE
Atlantic City is getting a new set of wings as AirTran Airways will begin routine flights out of the gambling hub starting this summer.
Non-stop, round trip flights between Atlantic City International Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport will take off starting June 11.
Travelers will have access to 35 additional destinations via the Atlanta airport. Officials say the move will help ease traffic at the Philadelphia International Airport and create jobs in the region.
"This new addition is a real boost for commerce and tourism in the Garden State," New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine said.
Prior to the announcement, Spirit Airlines was the only airline offering service to and from Atlantic City.
Air Tran officials said introductory fares will start at $69 for a one-way flight.
