JET RETURNS TO PHL SAFELY AMID CONCERNS
A US Airways Express jet returned to Philadelphia International Airport yesterday afternoon after reports of possible mechanical problems shortly after takeoff.
The plane, which had taken off about 3 p.m., had been en route to Cincinnati, airport spokeswoman Victoria Lupica said.
The aircraft, believed to have 44 people on board, circled the airport for about an hour to burn off fuel before landing safely at 4:06 p.m. No injuries were reported and no problems with the plane were detected, Lupica said. -
