PHL terminal cleared briefly to investigate item found in baggage
PHILADELPHIA - Travelers are back in a terminal at Philadelphia International Airport after an evacuation while a suspicious package was checked.
Airport spokeswoman Phyllis VanIstendal says an item that raised baggage checkers' suspicions early Friday has been cleared.
VanIstendal says she doesn't have details on the item. It was detected in a baggage scanner in Terminal A-East, the American-Delta terminal.
VanIstendal says she does not know now many people were affected by the evacuation about 6 a.m. But she says travelers and employees returned to the terminal in less than an hour.
She still encourages travelers to check the airport's Website or their airline for possible delays.
