FIREWORKS REPORTED NEAR FLIGHT FROM PHL
BOSTON -- Massachusetts State Police are investigating reports by a commercial airline pilot who saw what appeared to be fireworks being fired in the air near his aircraft.
Trooper Eric Benson says the pilot of an Air Wisconsin plane flying at about 500 feet as it made its approach at 12:30 on Saturday saw what he thought were fireworks in his aircraft's vicinity.
The aircraft inbound from Philadelphia was not struck, did not have to change course, and landed safely. No one was hurt.
State police were dispatched immediately to Winthrop and Revere, concentrating their search in and around the Belle Isle Marsh Reservation state park.
The investigation is ongoing and there have been no arrests.
It is illegal to possess fireworks in Massachusetts without permits.
